Faith Promise Giving
“He which soweth sparingly shall also reap sparingly: and he which soweth bountifully shall also reap bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.” - II Corinthians 9:6-8
The goal of the mission’s outreach of Pinecrest is to bring glory to God by being obedient to the Great Commission and carrying the Gospel to the ends of the earth. The effort to heed this God-given task is financed by the sacrificial giving of the Pinecrest family through what is called “Faith Promise” giving. Faith Promise giving enables Pinecrest to support over 160 missionary families and organizations each year. Here is a brief explanation of just what Faith Promise giving is.
Faith Promise…is agreeing with God that He loves the world and wants every person to have an opportunity to respond to the Gospel of Christ. It is an agreement you make with God to give financially by faith to worldwide missions. It is a promise made to God to give as He provides a certain amount over a specific time (usually a year). It requires faith because you are trusting God to provide these funds in various ways, often unknown to you. (John 3:16)
Faith Promise…is believing that God’s resources are unlimited and that He wants to provide the money needed to reach the world through His church. The mission of the Church, as given by Christ himself, is to reach the entire world with the Gospel and bring closure to the Great Commission. By giving to God’s work, you are agreeing with God that all people groups and nations of the world must believe on Jesus to be saved. (Romans 10:13-15)
Faith Promise…is giving based on God’s power and resources and on your willingness to be used. It is not what you think you can do but rather what you believe that God can do through you as an available channel of supply to evangelize the world. God is just looking for some empty clay pots that will be willing to be filled by Him and used to give “living water” to the millions of lost and thirsty souls in our world. (II Corinthians 8:3)
Faith Promise…is a voluntary commitment to God. Faith Promise giving is not a pledge to the church, but a personal commitment to God. It should be motivated by your love for Him and a desire to see others have the same opportunity to experience the grace of God in their life as you have. (II Corinthians 8:8)
Faith Promise…is realizing that God wants to bless you and reward your trust in His provision. Grace giving is a matter of faith. When we obey God to meet the needs of others, He has promised that He will meet our needs. Faith Promise giving will result in a life filled with joy and thanksgiving for all God has blessed you with. (Philippians 4:19)
